2008 RAFFLE

This year's raffle ticket will provide you with the opportunity to win one of the following six quilted items: a 56" x 70" quilt, a 51" x 64" quilt, a wallhanging, a table runner and matching candle mat, a set of four (4) appliqued kitchen towels, or a quilted handbag. The winners will be drawn at the Historical Society's annual ice cream social on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at the Historic Pine Island Creamery. You do not need to be present to win. All proceeds go to the Pine Island Area Historical Society.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the History Center, Arel's, Pine Island Bank, or Van Horn Public Library. The raffle items will be on display at the History Center beginning May 14, 2008, at Pine Island Bank during August, and at the Creamery on Sunday August, 17, 2008.

QUILTS GALORE

Our annual quilt show will open on Wednesday, May 14 (1:00 - 3:30 PM) and close on Sunday, June 15, at 5:00 PM. Once again we have many wonderful quilts to share with you, so please visit us during the following open hours:

   Monday mornings: 8:00 - 11:00 AM (May 19, 26, June 2, 9)
   Wednesday afternoons: 1:00 - 3:30 PM (May 14, 21, 28, June 4, 11)
   Sunday, June 1: 1:00 - 3:30 PM

   Special Hours during Cheese Festival
      Friday, June 13: 1:00 - 6:00 PM
      Saturday, June 14: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
      Sunday, June 15: 12:00 - 5:00 PM (closed during parade)

Renovations Complete!

Many downstairs' renovations have been completed, so we are returning to our regular schedule of open hours.

Bylaw's Approved

The newly approved bylaws are now available online.

Small Quilt Auction

All quilters are invited to donate a quilted item for our silent auction. These items should be turned in to Ann Murray at Pine Island Bank by August 1, 2008. All proceeds go to Pine Island Area Historical Society.

The quilted items will be on display at Pine Island Bank throughout the entire bidding time. Bidding will begin on Saturday, August 2, 2008. On Thursday, August 7, 2008, we invite you to attend an artists' reception from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Pine Island Bank. Goodies will be served, and we hope you will stop by to meet the creators of all of the donated quilted items and that you will place a bid on your favorite piece. Bidding will close at noon on Saturday, August 16, 2008. There will be NO bidding at the ice cream social as in previous years. Winning bidders will be notified during the following week.

We are pleased and excited to announce the release of the Pine Island Sesquicentennial DVD. This DVD is a pictorial history of Pine Island from 1857 - 2007 and costs only $10.00.
