2007 NewsPine Island is 150 Years Old!Pine Island is celebrating it's Sesquicentennial. Check out our schedule of events, and come celebrate our 150th birthday with us. 2007 Raffle WinnerOur 2007 queen size quilt, "Island Roses", was won by Teresa Swan, Pine Island, MN. This quilt was sewn by Ann Murray and Pat Walter. The machine quilting was done by Linda Hamson, Rochester, MN. Ann and Pat also coordinated a silent auction of small quilted articles. These were made and donated by friends of the History Center. A big "Thank You" to all who donated and/or purchased these items. New Home for the History Center! The former Collins-Glamm house became the permanent home of the Pine Island Area History Center in August, 2005. Rented until funds were raised by donations, fundraisers and room sponsorships, we were able to acquire the house as a permanent home for our history center. We continue our repairs and maintenance and have several historical displays, items and pictures setup throughout the center. Looking for PhotographsThe History Center is looking for pictures and information on area men who fought in the Civil and other wars. If you have pictures, we would like to make a copy for our files, you may keep the original. |
